English Translation

Salutations to you, O mother of the world, beloved of Vishnu,

From whom Brahma and other gods, the creators, sustainers, and destroyers arise,

Salutations to Tulasi, the auspicious one, salutations to the beloved of Vishnu, the auspicious one,

Salutations to the goddess who bestows liberation, salutations to the bestower of prosperity. || 1 ||

May Tulasi protect me always from all calamities, always,

Whether praised or remembered, she purifies a human being. || 2 ||

I bow with my head to the goddess Tulasi, whose body resplendent,

Whom sinful mortals, seeing, are freed from all sins. || 3 ||

Everything in this world, moving and non-moving, is protected by Tulasi,

She who destroys sins merely by being seen by sinful people. || 4 ||

Salutations to Tulasi, beyond compare, to whom with folded hands in the Kali Yuga,

Women, Vaishyas, and others worship for the attainment of all happiness. || 5 ||

In this world, there is no deity equal to Tulasi,

Just as the world is purified by association with Vishnu, so are Vaishnavas. || 6 ||

A leaf of Tulasi placed on Vishnu's head in the Kali Yuga,

Brings all prosperity to the one who offers it at the best of times. || 7 ||

All gods dwell always in Tulasi,

Therefore, by worshipping her, one worships all the gods in the world. || 8 ||

Salutations to Tulasi, the all-knowing, beloved of Purushottama,

Protect me from all sins, O bestower of all prosperity. || 9 ||

This hymn was sung in ancient times by the wise Pundarika,

While always worshipping Vishnu with beautiful Tulasi leaves. || 10 ||

Tulasi is Sri, Mahalakshmi, knowledge, learning, and fame,

Dharmic, the goddess named Dharma, beloved of the lord of gods. || 11 ||

The beloved friend of Lakshmi, the goddess, immovable and movable heaven and earth,

These sixteen names of Tulasi, if recited by people, || 12 ||

They easily obtain devotion, and attain the abode of Vishnu,

Tulasi is the earth, Mahalakshmi, Padmini, the beloved of Hari. || 13 ||

Tulasi, the friend of Sri, the auspicious one, the remover of sins, the abode of merit,

Salutations to you, praised by Narada, beloved of Narayana. || 14 ||
