English Translation
I worship the one who has the brilliance of parrot feathers, the sun, the fierce fire,
The friend of the lotus, whose orb is shining, whose belly is adorned with a girdle and earrings. || 1 ||
At whose rising and setting times, the lotus feet of the gods are respectfully pressed,
The three-eyed one makes folded hands; that Surya, the treasure of glory, conquers. || 2 ||
I bow to Vivasvan, the lord of the planets, who is the tilaka of the rising mountain,
Adorned with a crown of gems, whose ears are filled with the directions. || 3 ||
Surya conquels, who causes joy to people, who scatters the masses of darkness with his rays,
The observer of the three worlds, the sun with the red lotus orb. || 4 ||
The sun, who awakens lotus forests, breaks the bridges of Chakravaka birds,
Who is compassionate to all beings, who is always engaged in the welfare of others. || 5 ||
May Savita remove entirely the layer of sin accumulated in the Kali Yaga,
With rays possessing gold, who is very adept at severing clusters of lotuses. || 6 ||
Homage to you whose rays are yellow like a cluster of tamala trees on the rising peak,
To Hari, who has green horses, whose chariot is the sky. || 7 ||
When you rise, shine, and bloom, all stars blossom,
Indeed, O Sun, in this world, nothing does not bloom like lotuses. || 8 ||
The sun conquels at the time of rising, whose gentle heat is like gold,
The seven rays flow like a garland of flowers in the ocean. || 9 ||
The seven noble ones fell from the sky into Sambapura,
He in whose house or on whose neck Lakshmi never departs. || 10 ||
He who always chants these seven noble ones in seven ways on the seventh day,
Lakshmi never leaves his house or his body; this is true. || 11 ||
This is the treasure for the poor, the supreme medicine for the sick,
The accomplishment of all tasks is achieved when the hymn of the sun is remembered. || 12 ||
