English Translation

Oh Mother, whose face resembles the moon,

Whose neck is like a conch, whose breasts are like firm pitchers,

Who in the center of the sky, oh Goddess who is the enemy of Shambhara,

Protect me.

Whose teeth are like jasmine buds,

Whose breasts are smeared with saffron paste,

Whose body is dark blue like clouds,

I bow to her who is the mistress of all the worlds.

Delighted in the musical notes (sa, ri, ga, ma, pa, etc.),

Whose beautiful hands move with the vina,

Who is peaceful, gentle and sweet-speaking,

Whose breasts are full, I bow to Shiva's beloved.

Whose braids are moved by the playful tinkling of anklets,

Whose head sways with the playing of the vina,

I bow to Matangi.

In whom the delight of vina music is mingled,

Who is the sweet bee in the lotus of Ananda (bliss),

Whose waves are filled with compassion,

I contemplate the consort of Matangi's daughter.

With elongated eyes that show compassion,

Through the form of the teacher, revealing supreme grace,

I bow to Varada, who holds the vina at her left breast,

The mother of musical notes.

One should meditate on her who is the first blooming flower,

Wearing blue clothes, with a face like a moon,

Holding a honey-pot, with eyes rolling from intoxication,

With bright bracelets on her wrists,

Whose heavy breasts are slightly swaying,

The dark-complexioned one with a lovely gait.

Adorned with saffron paste, kissed on the cheeks by her beloved,

With a gentle smiling gaze, holding bow, arrow, noose and goad,

Who bewilders all people, wearing a red garland and adorned with clothes,

With flower-decked braids, one should meditate on the goddess.

I constantly meditate in my mind on Matangi's daughter,

Who is attended by the jewel-adorned vina,

Who is playful and graceful in her movements,

Whose limbs are delicate like the blue lotus.
