English Translation

Preface:

I salute Bhairava, seated on the peak of Kailasha, the Lord of the world, the great Lord,

Who grants desires and is worshipped by Parabhairavi, the Supreme Goddess.

Sri Bhairavi said:

O Lord of Kaula, I wish to hear the most excellent of all mantras,

The hundred names of Lalita, bestower of all desired fruits.

Sri Bhairava said:

Listen, O Goddess, O auspicious one, I shall proclaim this excellent hymn,

By its reading and wearing, one becomes the Lord of all accomplishments.

By the grace of this hymn, the six acts are accomplished,

It should be carefully guarded, like one's own life, from the unworthy.

For the hundred names of Lalita beginning with 'La',

Rajarajeshvara is the rishi, Anushtup is the meter,

Lalita Devi is the deity, for accomplishment of the six acts, the application is proclaimed for dharma, artha, kama, and moksha.

One should perform the six-limbed rite with the Vak, Kama, and Shakti bijas,

In practice, joining Bala-Trikuta, one should perform japa.

For this Sri Lalita Lakaradi Shatanama Mala Mantra, Sri Rajarajeshvara is the rishi, Anushtup is the meter, Sri Lalita Devi is the deity, for accomplishment of the six acts, for dharma-artha-kama-moksha, the application is in reading.

Kara Nyasa:

Om Aim to the thumbs, namah

Om Klim to the index fingers, namah

Om Sauh to the middle fingers, namah

Om Aim to the ring fingers, namah

Om Klim to the little fingers, namah

Om Sauh to the front and back of palms, namah

I worship Shiva, of four arms, three eyes, resplendent like the morning sun,

Holding noose, goad, bow and arrows.

Lalita, Lakshmi, Lolakshi, worshipped by Lakshmana,

Protector of Lakshmana's life, dear to Lakshmi.

Playful, La-letter, Lady of the forest, playful-tongued, modest,

To be perceived, not to be perceived, praised, adorned with La-letter.

Playful in nature, a sport, sportive, a beautiful creeper,

Of beautiful essence, of nectar of beauty, elongated nectar of beauty.

Modesty, mistress of modesty, modesty, beloved of Lalana,

Salt, beautiful, Lakshmi, desired, Lalasa.

Mother of the world, worshipped by the world, mother of the world, desirous,

Red, red-eyed, and known as Linga, and the Lady of Linga.

Pleased by the touch of the creeper, delighted by embracing the creeper,

Creeper-knowledge, creeper-essence, creeper-conduct, creeper-treasure.

Pleased by cinnamon flowers, stationed in the middle of the cinnamon creeper,

Of cinnamon creeper form, pleased by cinnamon fire-offering.

Adorned with La-letter, born of La-letter color,

Adorned with La-letter color, La-letter-colored brilliance.

Born of La-bija, established in La-letter,

Abode of La-bija, all in La-bija.

La-letter-colored, all-limbed, beyond the target/aim-bearer,

Target bearer, target-wrecker, granting success through Lakshya japa.

Bearer of the form of a crore of Lakshmis, abode of Lakshmi's playful arts,

Worshipped by the protectors of the world, anointed with Lakshmi's red ointment.

Beyond the world, the Mudra of Lopa, of the form of Lajja-bija,

Without modesty, made of modesty, causing world-travel.

Fond of Lasya, causing dissolution, dissolving the world, large-bellied,

Giver of laghima and other siddhis, bestower of the treasure of beauty,

Engraved in La-letter, seed 'La', Lalita's beloved.

Fruit of Hymn:

Thus, O Goddess, the secret of secrets, the Supreme, has been told to you,

In the morning, at noon, and in the evening, ever at night,

Whoever reads it, the best seeker, becomes victorious in the three worlds.

Freed from all sins, he attains the realm of Lalita,

In an empty house, in Shiva's forest, in Shiva's temple as well.

In an empty place, in a pond, on the riverbank, at a crossroads,

In a single linga, in the house of one who has bathed, in a prostitute's house as well.

One should read the 108 names for all accomplishments,

Whatever the seeker desires, that will certainly happen.

Whatever Siddhis exist in the brahmanda egg, wherever in the world,

O Goddess, they are always in the palm of the hand.

Of whatever siddhis there are that come to mind by the mere memory of the seeker,

They come of their own accord before him; what need to speak of the japa of others.

For ten lakh repetitions, O Goddess, the purascarana is said,

With purascarana, the hymn becomes a bestower of the fruits of all actions.

The best seeker should read a thousand times,

In half a month, all the world becomes certainly subservient.

A man who daily makes offerings with palasha flowers for each name,

All women on earth, and all women stationed in all worlds,

All women in the netherworld, Naga women, Yaksha women,

He can subdue them in a moment and a half; of this there is no doubt.

If one reads a hundred times with meditation at the ashvattha root,

Disease is destroyed in that very moment, O Goddess; there is no doubt.

If one reads the hymn a thousand times with meditation in an empty house,

Lakshmi becomes certainly pleased; he controls the three worlds.

Having performed life-rituals on a corpse, wrapping it, tying it with a corpse rope,

After performing prana-pratishtha, one should indeed perform worship.

Reading two thousand times at night in the cremation ground,

He obtains tongue-binding, immediately attaining muteness.

If a wise person reads the hymn in the cremation ground, ten thousand times,

Enemy destruction happens immediately; not otherwise, I declare.

The corpse cloth should be taken on Saturday, wrapped for each name,

Writing the names of enemies and performing prana-pratishtha.

Then worshipping Lalita with Krishnadattura flowers,

Reading the hymn a hundred times at night in the cremation ground.

Then he attains death, equal to the king of gods,

Taking ash from the cremation ground on a Monday or Mangala (Tuesday).

Having bound with the corpse cloth, tying with a corpse rope,

Having made ten protective knots, digging in the enemy's house.

For seven nights, wandering, scattering and trembling occurs,

Whoever worships a maiden and reads with devotion.

Nothing is rare for him, whether in heaven or on earth,

In famine, in oppression by the king, in battle, amidst enemies.

Wherever fear arises, wherever a man takes refuge,

There fear is certainly dispelled for him; there is no doubt.

Placing a desired woman, pleased and purified, on the left side,

Having performed japa, one should read; success is established in his hand.

A poor person with a sexual partner should read eight times,

He becomes like Kubera; of this there is no doubt.

Humans who ever worship Sri Lalita, the Great Goddess,

Should sacrifice with ghee for each name; they obtain a heap of wealth.

Offering fresh butter to women, O Maheshvari,

She who is barren becomes a mother of children, O Goddess; in this there is no doubt.

On the throat, or left arm, or womb, or wearing it,

A woman with many sons becomes certainly auspicious.

This fierce, very fierce, great fierce hymn of Lalita,

Well-conducted, peaceful, controlled, endowed with excellent qualities,

For the devoted, the eldest son, devoted to the teacher's devotion,

For the devotee's devotee, worthy, for devotion and devotion's power,

For one devoted to prostitute worship, for one worshipping maidens,

For devotee of Durga, Shaiva, progeny of Kameshvara,

Endowed with non-dual feeling, with devotion to Shakti,

The hundred-name hymn known as Lalita should be given by oneself.

For the wicked, dependent on others, who hate others,

For the fallen, of wicked nature, who slander others,

For devotee of Shiva, for the wicked, delighting in others' wives,

Who hate prostitute women, who hate the five makaras,

If anyone were to reveal this hymn, O Goddess, my killer would be,

Therefore do not give it, O Goddess, mentally, in action, or by word.

Whoever acts otherwise, his lifespan is certainly destroyed,

He is certainly deprived of sons, certainly deprived of wife, certainly deprived of kingdom.

Mantra-confusion arises for him; he will face death,

For those endowed with successive initiation, success occurs; no other way.

O Goddess, one endowed with successive initiation obtains dominion gradually,

One endowed with successive initiation certainly becomes a portion of the said success.

After cleaning the writing on the skin properly, renouncing the servant state,

He obtains all accomplishments; in this there is no need for consideration.

O Goddess, one endowed with successive initiation is my equal without doubt,

It should be guarded, it should be guarded, it should be guarded always, O sinless one.

He is initiated, happy, good, truthful, conquered in senses,

He is a speaker of the Vedas, one who studies himself, finding joy in all bliss.

Having worshipped Sri Lalita within himself, the man should ever worship the World Mother,

Victorious in the three worlds; in this there is no need for consideration.

Meditating on Shiva in the form of the Guru, remembering the Guru as Shiva's form,

He is ever Sadashiva; in this there is no need for consideration.

लतापूजनरता च लतासाधकतुष्टिदा |
लतापूजकरक्षिणी लतासाधनसिद्धिदा || ८ ||

लतागृहनिवासिनी लतापूज्या लताराध्या |
लतापुष्पा लतारता लताधारा लतामयी || ९ ||

लतास्पर्शनसंतुष्टा लताऽऽलिंगनहर्षिता |
लताविद्या लतासारा लताऽऽचारा लतानिधी || १० ||

लवङ्गपुष्पसंतुष्टा लवङ्गलतामध्यस्था |
लवङ्गलतिकारूपा लवङ्गहोमसंतुष्टा || ११ ||

लकाराक्षारपूजिता च लकारवर्णोद्भवा |
लकारवर्णभूषिता लकारवर्णरुचिरा || १२ ||

लकारबीजोद्भवा तथा लकाराक्षरस्थिता |
लकारबीजनिलया लकारबीजसर्वस्वा || १३ ||

लकारवर्णसर्वाङ्गी लक्ष्यछेदनतत्परा |
लक्ष्यधरा लक्ष्यघूर्णा लक्षजापेनसिद्धिदा || १४ ||

लक्षकोटिरूपधरा लक्षलीलाकलालया |
लोकपालेनार्चिता च लाक्षारागविलेपना || १५ ||

लोकातीता लोपामुद्रा लज्जाबीजस्वरूपिणी |
लज्जाहीना लज्जामयी लोकयात्राविधायिनी || १६ ||

लास्यप्रिया लयकरी लोकलया लम्बोदरी |
लघिमादिसिद्धिदात्री लावण्यनिधिदायिनी |
लकारवर्णग्रथिता लम्बीजा ललिताम्बिका || १७ ||

फल श्रुति

इति ते कथितं देवी गुह्याद्गुह्यतरं परम् |
प्रातःकाले च मध्याह्ने सायाह्ने च सदा निशि |
यः पठेत् साधकश्रेष्ठो त्रैलोक्यविजयी भवेत् || १ ||

सर्वपापविनिर्ममुक्तः स याति ललितापदम् |
शून्यागारे शिवारण्ये शिवदेवालये तथा || २ ||

शून्यदेशे तडागे च नदीतीरे चतुष्पथे |
एकलिङ्गे ऋतुस्नातागेहे वेश्यागृहे तथा || ३ ||

पठेदष्टोत्तरशतनामानि सर्वसिद्धये |
साधको वाञ्छां यत्कुर्यात् तत्तथैव भविष्यति || ४ ||

ब्रह्माण्डगोलके याश्च याः काश्चिज्जगतीतले |
समस्ताः सिद्धयो देवी करामलकवत्सदा || ५ ||

साधकस्मृतिमात्रेण यावन्त्यः सन्ति सिद्धयः |
स्वयमायान्ति पुरतो जपादीनां तु का कथा || ६ ||

अयुतावर्तनाद्देवी पुरश्चर्याऽस्य गीयते |
पुरश्चर्यायुतः स्तोत्रः सर्वकर्मफलप्रदः || ७ ||

सहस्रं च पठेद्यस्तु मासार्धं साधकोत्तमः |
दासीभूतं जगत्सर्वं मासार्धाद्भवति ध्रुवम् || ८ ||

नित्यं प्रतिनाम्नः हुत्वा पलाशकुसुमैर्नरः |
भूलोकस्थाः सर्वकन्याः सर्वलोकस्थितास्तथा || ९ ||

पातालस्थाः सर्वकन्याः नागकन्याः यक्षकन्याः |
वशीकुर्यान्मण्डलार्धात्संशयो नात्र विद्यते || १० ||

अश्वत्थमूले पठेत् शतवारं ध्यानपूर्वकम् |
तत् क्षणाद्व्याधिनाशश्च भवेद्देवी न संशयः || ११ ||

शून्यागारे पठेत् स्तोत्रं सहस्रं ध्यानपूर्वकम् |
लक्ष्मी प्रसीदति ध्रुवं स त्रैलोक्यं वशिष्यति || १२ ||

प्रेतवस्त्रं भौमे ग्राह्यं रिपुनां च वेष्टितम् |
प्राणप्रतिष्ठां कृत्वा तु पूजां चैव हि कारयेत् || १३ ||

श्मशाने निखेद्रात्रौ द्विसहस्रं पठेत्ततः |
जिह्वास्तम्भनमाप्नोति सद्यो मूकत्वमाप्नुयात् || १४ ||

श्मशाने च पठेत् स्तोत्रं अयुतार्धं सुबुद्धिमान् |
शत्रुक्षयो भवेत् सद्यो नान्यथा मम भाषितम् || १५ ||

प्रेतवस्त्रं शनौ ग्राह्यं प्रतिनाम्ना संपुटितम् |
शत्रुनाम लिखित्वा च प्राणप्रतिष्ठां कारयेत् || १६ ||

ततः ललितां संपूज्य कृष्णधत्तूरपुष्पकैः |
श्मशाने निखेद्रात्रौ शतवारं पठेत् स्तोत्रम् || १७ ||

ततो मृत्युमवाप्नोति देवराजसमोऽपि सः |
श्मशानाङ्गारमादाय मङ्गले शनिवारे वा || १८ ||

प्रेतवस्त्रेण संवेष्ट्य बध्नीयात् प्रेतरज्जुना |
दशाभिमन्त्रितं कृत्वा खनेद्वैरिवेश्मनि || १९ ||

सप्तरात्रान्तरे तस्योच्चाटनं भ्रामणं भवेत् |
कुमारीं पूजयित्वा तु यः पठेद्भक्तितत्परः || २० ||

न किञ्चिद्दुर्लभं तस्य दिवि वा भुवि मोदते |
दुर्भिक्षे राजपीडायां सङ्ग्रामे वैरिमध्यके || २१ ||

यत्र यत्र भयं प्राप्तः सर्वत्र प्रपठेन्नरः |
तत्र तत्राभयं तस्य भवत्येव न संशयः || २२ ||

वामपार्श्वे समानीय शोधितां वरकामिनीम् |
जपं कृत्वा पठेद्यस्तु तस्य सिद्धिः करे स्थिता || २३ ||

दरिद्रस्तु चतुर्दश्यां कामिनीसंगमैः सह |
अष्टवारं पठेद्यस्तु कुबेरसदृशो भवेत् || २४ ||

श्रीललितां महादेवी नित्यं संपूज्य मानवः |
प्रतिनाम्ना जुहुयात्स धनराशिमवाप्नुयात् || २५ ||

नवनीतं चाभिमन्त्र्य स्त्रीभ्यो दद्यान्महेश्वरी |
वन्ध्यां पुत्रप्रदं देवी नात्र कार्या विचारणा || २६ ||

कण्ठे वा वामबाहौ वा योनौ वा धारणाच्छिवे |
बहुपुत्रवती नारी सुभगा जायते ध्रुवम् || २७ ||

उग्र उग्रं महदुग्रं स्तवमिदं ललितायाः |
सुविनीताय शान्ताय दान्तायातिगुणाय च || २८ ||

भक्ताय ज्येष्ठपुत्राय गुरुभक्तिपराय च |
भक्तभक्ताय योग्याय भक्तिशक्तिपराय च || २९ ||

वेश्यापूजनयुक्ताय कुमारीपूजकाय च |
दुर्गाभक्ताय शैवाय कामेश्वरप्रजापिने || ३० ||

अद्वैतभावयुक्ताय शक्तिभक्तिपराय च |
प्रदेयं शतनामाख्यं स्वयं ललिताज्ञया || ३१ ||

खलाय परतन्त्राय परनिन्दापराय च |
भ्रष्टाय दुष्टतत्त्वाय परीवादपराय च || ३२ ||

शिवाभक्ताय दुष्टाय परदाररताय च |
वेश्यास्त्रीनिन्दकाय च पञ्चमकारनिन्दके || ३३ ||

न स्तोत्रं दर्शयेद्देवी मम हत्याकरो भवेत् |
तस्मान्न दापयेद्देवी मनसा कर्मणा गिरा || ३४ ||

अन्यथा कुरुते यस्तु स क्षीणायुर्भवेद्ध्रुवम् |
पुत्रहारी च स्त्रीहारी राज्यहारी भवेद्ध्रुवम् || ३५ ||

मन्त्रक्षोभश्च जायते तस्य मृत्युर्भविष्यति |
क्रमदीक्षायुतानां च सिद्धिर्भवति नान्यथा || ३६ ||

क्रमदीक्षायुतो देवी क्रमाद्राज्यमवाप्नुयात् |
क्रमदीक्षासमायुक्तः कल्पोक्तसिद्धिभाग्भवेत् || ३७ ||

विधेर्लिपिं तु सम्मार्ज्य किंकरत्वं विसृज्य च |
सर्वसिद्धिमवाप्नोति नात्र कार्या विचारणा || ३८ ||

क्रमदीक्षायुतो देवी मम समो न संशयः |
गोपनीयं गोपनीयं गोपनीयं सदाऽनघे || ३९ ||

स दीक्षितः सुखी साधुः सत्यवादी जितेन्द्रियः |
स वेदवक्ता स्वाध्यायी सर्वानन्दपरायणः || ४० ||

स्वस्मिन् ललितां संभाव्य पूजयेज्जगदम्बिकाम् |
त्रैलोक्यविजयी भूयानात्र कार्या विचारणा || ४१ ||

गुरुरूपं शिवं ध्यात्वा शिवरूपं गुरुं स्मरेत् |
सदाशिवः स एव स्याम्नात्र कार्या विचारणा || ४२ ||
