English Translation

I meditate on Him whom Vedantis proclaim at the beginning as 'Om',

Whom Brahma and others worship at the beginning of world creation,

Who dwells in the hearts of all living beings as the Inner Controller,

I worship Vighnesha, the destroyer of sorrow.

I worship Vighnesha, the destroyer of sorrow,

Who delights Ganga, Gauri and Shankara,

Whose story is beautiful and pure as sung by Gandharvas,

Who is the beginning of beginnings, the Lord of the worlds, the source of all gods.

The King of Ganas, who is but a great obstacle (to the proud),

Who carries his devotees across the ocean of existence to the far shore,

Who grants attainment of Siddhis,

I worship Vighnesha, the destroyer of sorrow.

For worship, one should meditate on the seed in the southwest corner within the yantra,

With pure-hearted offerings and recitation of Vedic verses,

I worship Vighnesha, the destroyer of sorrow.

The yogi whose hands are ever engaged in the offering of oblations,

Whose lotus-like feet are worshipped in the east,

From whose navel region the sun and moon shine forth,

I worship Vighnesha, the destroyer of sorrow.

Whose essence is known through scripture and guru's teachings,

The wise one, at the end of beginning and experiencing, abides in his own true abode,

The knower of tranquil knowledge, self-realized,

I worship Vighnesha, the destroyer of sorrow.

All enjoyments that benefit the world, that bring merit,

All yogas that are attainable in the good worlds, that bring good results,

All these become present for the humans who worship the Lord of Men,

I worship Vighnesha, the destroyer of sorrow.

Whoever constantly worships His lotus feet even for a moment,

Becomes undivided in Self, partaking of unbroken bliss, devoid of delusion,

He obtains all desires - what is the wonder in this now?

I worship Vighnesha, the destroyer of sorrow.

With beautiful forehead like the rising moon,

With face like an elephant, large ears, and spreading lotus hands,

With ears like winnowing baskets, beautiful body, son of Shiva,

I worship Vighnesha, the destroyer of sorrow.

After understanding the meaning of the siddhanta, after reciting the excellent praise of Ganesha,

After invoking Subrahmanya and Surya appropriately,

After obtaining the desired result without obstacles,

After releasing delusion, the devotee should partake of wisdom.
