English Translation

Verse 1: Brahma said: "You are the first god of gods, by lordship you are the lord, you are the first creator of beings, the god of gods, O Sun (Divākara)."

Verse 2: You are the life of all beings—gods, Gandharvas, and Rākṣasas; sages, Kinnaras, and Siddhas; and likewise of snakes and birds.

Verse 3: You are Brahma, you are Mahādeva, you are Vishnu, you are Prajāpati. You are the wind, you are Indra, you are Soma, you are Vivasvān, you are Varuṇa likewise.

Verse 4: You are Time, you are the creator, you are the destroyer, you are the sustainer, thus you are the Lord. Rivers, oceans, mountains, lightning, Indra's bow—these are you.

Verse 5: You are the dissolution and the manifestation likewise, the manifest and unmanifest, the eternal one. You are higher than the highest lord, higher than the highest knowledge, higher than knowledge, Shiva.

Verse 6: Higher than Shiva, god, you alone are the supreme lord. Hands and feet everywhere, faces and eyes everywhere.

Verse 7: Of a thousand rays, of a thousand aspects, of a thousand feet and glances. Earth and the higher realms, and the highest realm, the moon, truth, austerity, and the being.

Verse 8: The shining, illuminating, divine one, the illuminator of all worlds—that form of yours, difficult to behold for the lords of gods—salutations to that.

Verse 9: Honored by hosts of gods and Siddhas, by Bhṛgu, Tripuṛha, and others—that very subtle form of yours, praised—salutations to that.

Verse 10: To be known, to be known by knowers of the Vedas, always, accompanied with all knowledge—that form of yours, the highest god of all gods—salutations to that.

Verse 11: The creator of all, the become of all, worshipped by Viśvānara and gods, the abiding of all, the unknowable—that form of yours—salutations to that.

Verse 12: Higher than the highest sacrifice, higher than the highest Veda, higher than the highest world, higher than the highest heaven, renowned as the Supreme Self—that form of yours—salutations to that.

Verse 13: Unknowable, unperceivable, attained in meditation, imperishable, without beginning or end—that form of yours—salutations to that.

Verse 14: Salutations, salutations to the cause of causes. Salutations, salutations to the liberator from sins. Salutations, salutations to you, praised by Aditi. Salutations, salutations to the destroyer of diseases.

Verse 15: Salutations, salutations to the giver of all boons. Salutations, salutations to the giver of all happiness. Salutations, salutations to the giver of all wealth. Salutations, salutations to the giver of all wisdom.
